【摘要】:Thepreparationoffieldlogsprovidesdocumentationoffieldexplorationproceduresandfindingsforgeotechnical,geologic,hydrogeologic,andotherinvestigationsofsubsurfacesiteconditions.Thisguidemaybeusedforabroadrangeofinvestigations.Therecordedinformationinafieldlogwilldependonthespecificpurposeofthesiteinvestigation.Alloftheinformationgiveninthisguideneednotappearinallfieldlogs.Note18212;Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivesampling.UsersofthispracticearecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thisguidedescribesthetypeofinformationthatshouldberecordedduringfieldsubsurfaceexplorationsinsoilandrock.1.2Thisguideisnotintendedtospecifyalloftheinformationrequiredforpreparingfieldlogs.Suchrequirementswillvarydependingonthepurposeoftheinvestigation,theintendeduseofthefieldlog,andparticularneedsoftheclientoruser.1.3Thisguideisapplicabletoboreholes,augerholes,excavatedpits,orothersubsurfaceexposuressuchasroadsidecutsorstreambanks.ThisguidemayserveasasupplementtoGuideD420.1.4Thisguidemaynotbesuitedtoalltypesofsubsurfaceexplorationsuchasmining,agricultural,geologichazardouswaste,orotherspecialtypesofexploration.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.6Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcareofwhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Thewordx201C;Standardx201D;inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
