【摘要】:Cyanideishighlytoxic.Regulationshavebeenestablishedtorequirethemonitoringofcyanideinindustrialanddomesticwastesandinsurfacewaters(AppendixX1).TestMethodDisapplicablefornaturalwaterandcleanmetalfinishingorheattreatmenteffluents.ItmaybeusedforprocesscontrolinwastewatertreatmentfacilitiesprovidingitsapplicabilityhasbeenvalidatedbyTestMethodBorC.ThespottestoutlinedinAnnexA1canbeusedtodetectcyanideandthiocyanateinwaterorwastewater,andtoapproximateitsconcentration.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationofcyanidesinwater.Thefollowingtestmethodsareincluded:1.2Cyanogenhalidesmaybedeterminedseparately.Cyanogenchlorideisthemostcommonofthecyanogenhalidecomplexesasitisareactionproductandisusuallypresentwhenchlorinatingcyanide-containingindustrialwastewater.ForthepresenceorabsenceofCNCl,thespottestmethodgivenincanbeused.1.3Thesetestmethodsdonotdistinguishbetweencyanideionsandmetallocyanidecompoundsandcomplexes.Furthermore,theydonotdetectthecyanates.Note18212;Thecyanatecomplexesaredecomposedwhenthesampleisacidifiedinthedistillationprocedure.1.4Thecyanideincyanocomplexesofgold,platinum,cobaltandsomeothertransitionmetalsisnotcompletelyrecoveredbythesetestmethods.1.5Cyanidefromonlyafeworganiccyanidesarerecovered,andthoseonlytoaminorextent.1.6Partorallofthesetestmethodshavebeenusedsuccessfullywithreagentwaterandvariouswastewaters.Itistheuser'sresponsibilitytoassurethevalidityofthetestmethodforthewatermatrixbeingtested.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Specifichazardstatementsaregiveninsections5.1,8.8,8.18,9,11.2,and16.1.9.
