【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethoddeterminesthedamageresistanceofmultidirectionalpolymermatrixcompositelaminatedplatessubjectedtoadrop-weightimpactevent.Thecompositematerialformsarelimitedtocontinuous-fiberreinforcedpolymermatrixcomposites,withtherangeofacceptabletestlaminatesandthicknessesdefinedin8.2.1.2Aflat,rectangularcompositeplateissubjectedtoanout-of-plane,concentratedimpactusingadrop-weightdevicewithahemisphericalimpactor.Thepotentialenergyofthedrop-weight,asdefinedbythemassanddropheightoftheimpactor,isspecifiedpriortotest.Equipmentandproceduresareprovidedforoptionalmeasurementofcontactforceandvelocityduringtheimpactevent.Thedamageresistanceisquantifiedintermsoftheresultingsizeandtypeofdamageinthespecimen.1.3Thetestmethodmaybeusedtoscreenmaterialsfordamageresistance,ortoinflictdamageintoaspecimenforsubsequentdamagetolerancetesting.WhentheimpactedplateistestedinaccordancewithTestMethodD7137/D7137M,theoveralltestsequenceiscommonlyreferredtoastheCompressionAfterImpact(CAI)method.Quasi-staticindentationperTestMethodD6264maybeusedasanalternatemethodofcreatingdamagefromanout-of-planeforceandmeasuringdamageresistanceproperties.1.4Thedamageresistancepropertiesgeneratedbythistestmethodarehighlydependentuponseveralfactors,whichincludespecimengeometry,layup,impactorgeometry,impactormass,impactforce,impactenergy,andboundaryconditions.Thus,resultsaregenerallynotscalabletootherconfigurations,andareparticulartothecombinationofgeometricandphysicalconditionstested.1.5ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetexttheinch-poundunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
